In 2028, Sutton Coldfield will celebrate an incredible milestone, 500 years since the Royal Charter gave Sutton Coldfield its royal title. To mark this special anniversary, we're creating something truly unique: the Sutton Heritage Tapestry. This exciting community project will bring together 500 stitchers, artists and creative volunteers to celebrate Sutton Coldfield's history, creativity and community.

One Story. Hundreds of Hands.

The project includes a beautiful hand-embroidered Heritage Tapestry, alongside community-created Heritage Scrolls and Bunting, all inspired by key motifs celebrating Sutton Coldfield's heritage. Whether you're an experienced stitcher, a creative artist, or someone who simply wants to try something new, there will be an opportunity for you to get involved.

All ages and abilities are welcome. You don't need to be an expert, guidance, materials and opportunities for workshops will be available as the project develops. The majority of the creative work will take place throughout 2027, before the project comes together for the 500-year celebrations in 2028.
