Sir John Milford Rutter was born 24 September 1945. He is an English composer, conductor, editor, arranger, and record producer, mainly of choral music. He founded the Cambridge Singers who have premiered and recorded many of his works for his own label Collegium Records. He remains a most popular living English composer much loved by amateur choirs for whom a considerable amount of his compositions are technically accessible and of immediate melodic appeal. REQUIEM JOHN RUTTER
The first performance of the completed Requiem was given in 1985, though some movements were performed earlier in the year and The Lord is my shepherd was originally composed as a separate anthem before being incorporated into the work. Thus the work does not just keep to the text of the Ordinary of the Mass but incorporates a number of other texts.
